As in, “That’s MY tomato, baby!” As in, “I made that.” One week after planting, my itty-bitty tomato kit (thank you, Target dollar bin) has sprouted! It is pretty much the most adorable plant ever. Here is another picture of my overachieving tommy-toe:

Later in the day I noticed he had started to lean toward the window — in an effort to soak up the maximum amount of sun, I presume. Yes, my baby is a genius. I know I sound crazy, but I figure I’m allowed to be super-proud of this because I have a black thumb and have never even been able to keep a cactus alive. A week ago that thing was just DIRT and now it is ALIVE. Tell me that’s not amazing.
Giddy with this small success, yesterday I bought a sweet pepper kit and a basil plant (already growing — all I have to do is sustain it — sounds easy, right?). This may constitute biting off more than I can chew. I’ll let you know how it goes. But you might as well get used to the idea of seeing lots of photos of the gushing, “look how much he’s grown” variety — until I either kill the plants (could happen anytime) or have my own children (not anytime soon). Just sayin’.
Happy Father’s day, Daddy!
